CLB-update

June 29th, 2007 by justinboon

I shall update you on my status in CLB lessons

I dont like the teacher n i think its a mutual thing…

I shall never acknowledge his presence outside the classroom so as not to give him the wrong impression afterall, im no longer a sc. anyway i dont think people like him deserve it…

I think teachers like him are far too good for CLB students like me n therefore i suggest that he be promoted to a level where only people who eat, live n breath(ELB) chinese would see him. That way he can have fun teaching his class that ELB chinese. We CLB students are just wasting resources, we deserve Mr. Teo(a tutor who is older but at least can accept that dates on letter can be written in NUMBERS and not chinese characters).

Most importantly, my exams are in november. And while most are looking foward to the end of the As. I have more motivation, yeap u guessed it! Its the last time im gona need to every look at a chinese passage n start cracking my head. But sadly if thats all u guess, then ure wrong cuz what is more important is that… I do not see his face. =)

THE TJ olympiads

June 29th, 2007 by justinboon

Finally, the Common Test Olympiads are over!

I seriously dont understand why they call it a test!…

Im just darn pissed that the chem teachers set something out of the syllabus. BTW my chem tutor once told our class we shouldnt do NJ’s papers as they have questions out of syllabus… I dont see any difference from ours.

This is my hypothesis of how teachers think:

1. JCTs- fail the students and hopefully they GET MOTIVATED. Lets just forget about the fact that most of them spent their june holidays on textbooks and papers most likely either in the library/fast food outlet/airport

2. Weeks after JCT- You start telling students why they should pay attention since NONE OF THEM GOT ABOVE X (Where X is an interger hopefully larger then 50, but most probably lower then 50)

3. Promos- You set a paper, it still must be difficult. When other schools take ure paper, they start to think WAH XXX JC must be a JC full of smart people, look at their paper, even teachers from our JC CANNOT DO!

your sch rep goes up instantly just be looking at the difficulty of the paper…

*anyone willing to prove my hypothesis correct? or have u had enough of math too?

Anyway, I should be fair. The physics n econs depts dont seem to follow my hypothesis. Which is actually is a good thing if my hypothesis is proven wrong.

Anyway im still damn pissed about what a tutor did to us. Since he doesnt name names, so i shallnt. But lets just call him=someone=Mr. X

Mr. X told us one week before the JCTs that the hints he has given us was during his classes and he had NONE left to give us… so he KINDLY hinted to us. Those of you who have been paying attention during my class, would know what i mean. Of course it was just to spite people like me who fall asleep during his class… but my brain still works u see… i still do know that he gave our class a genetics presentation to do and showed us a video on genetics. So i inferred that he meant genetics was coming out!… Of course just before the test i studied genetics… n SURPRISE out of the 12 questions, NONE WERE ON GENETICS! ar damn it cannot be the tutors fault… i must have heard wrongly… =X then again… im still pissed he told me that… cuz i tried so hard to understand wth is genetic engineering and what exactly is so controversial about it!.!.! n it dint help that when u ask different people, they all have their own accounts of Genetics… Well of course thats not it la. I mean Mr X is a nice teacher. He believes in helping his students do the best they can u see. I mean WHICH TEACHER WOULD WOULDNT WANT THAT?! so Mr X told us dont stab ureself in ure feet. Dont just write about things happening locally, write with a global perspective! Of course, Mr X was smart to end of by saying unless the question specifies otherwise. Eh true enough the question specified OTHERWISE!. I seriously wonder where was Mr. X when the paper was being set =S Haiz perhaps he was looking at the Year 1s papers and was trying his best to help us…

Im just so confused… ar well… I’ll most probably see a gp paper with disappointing results… then again i should be fair to myself… Just like what a GP relief teacher told our class,"By now, you guys should know what is relative". Indeed, its the most important concept! Nothing is absolute. Somehow i felt that she was like the internet. Just that she was a walking internet. She can pour our information… literally flooding you… n best of all, its presented in a student-friendly manner!(that is, it goes into ure ears, keeps u awake and makes u yearn for more).

CLB

January 11th, 2007 by justinboon

CLB aka the easier version of chinese… is giving me problems :(

I still have four periods of chinese a week. totally retarded la… as if me reading more chinese would help me improve. Well if that ever occured, i would not be in CLB in the first place!?!? dumb system…

Anyway its not only about the four hours… but the horrible textbook… we have passages that are supposedly harder then H1 chinese… according to the teacher… rubbish circiculum setters… dont they know what people take CLB and not H1 chinese?!

anyway to show u how much we appreciate our textbooks:
We had them for a full year… and none of us knew that there were answers at the last section of the textbook… *surprise surprise* we only realised when our teacher told us that he accidentally photocopied the whole textbook. It should have been done without the answer :) *yeeaaaaahhhhhh*

anyway nothing much to be happy about… i still have to read chinese…

worse still… he wants us to write newspaper reports…. OH NO… not that sec sch stuff again :( …. umm… anyone out there who has the ability to help churn out newspaper reports (in chinese, obviously) can contact me!

Anyway i have this new teacher… his damn weird… to test our ability of understanding chinese… he showed us this animation… suppposedly very famous in hk… it goes like that…. the pig was having a cooking show

*i started to laugh*

i mean just looking at pigs trying to cook was good enough to make me laugh… i thought that was such a joke… but noo… the joke was when the pig started flipping around some paper thing…. aargh dont ask me i dont know what izit in chinese but in english, it means paper chicken i think…

yar so basically i dint understand the video but i laughed cuz the way the pig acted was so hilarious -.-’…. or well the teacher took my laughter as a sign of my language ability…. im sure he must have been sorely disappointed when he realise that i still dont know when to say DI4 or DE2…

Now all i need to do is read 7 chpts of this book… n that is it for chinese!!!

And if any of u out there have any fool proof chinese tips… do try them out on me… ill try my best not to disappoint u =D

Thailand(Day 5 n 6)

December 21st, 2006 by justinboon

We woke up very late… at about 9 or 10… cause we had an extremely late night at the fantastic night bazaar… hahaz
Made our way to a mall near natha’s house, as usual his 2nd brother drove us there… hahaz… reached n we went straight to the top level… where an arcade greeted us… lol could see the eyes of nabil… started to dilate… hahaz… but first we had to eat something… i had cup corn… ooh yummy yummy… hmm why doesnt singapore have cup corn in all its malls =(… the best combination of butter, sugar n a pinch of salt with corn… yummy =D… nabil got some food too… made natha hungry n he followed suit… hahaz walked a bit more n yes nabil gave in to temptation when he saw… i think house of the dead 3/4 cant rmb… the one he played in marina bay arcade… L0L… i think 4… anyway he was so happy that the screen was small n the game was so much cheaper then singapore’s arcade.. hahaz… i went to play daytona with beng… lol obviously i lost… hahaz… but thai arcades not bad leh… not noisy… haha practically empty… else then a few students walking about… hahaz … moved on to the water theme park… which is situated on top of the building… hahaz but we decided not to go to it… dint seem worth it to spend our time there… was extremely hard deciding lunch… walked around the mall… round the food stalls… n made our way to… thai laksa(sorry natha i have no idea what it is called in thai)… it was ok… hahaz nabil really wanted to kill himself by trying the extremely hot n spicy gravy… but decided to back down when no one else wud commit suicide together with him… hahaz… simple description of thai laksa… 6 balls of rice noodles…. one bowl of gravy of your choice… from the not so spicy to the extra spicy… n u get to pick ure own vegetables from a counter… place a ball of noodles into the soup… together with some vege… and eat it… =D… yummy… after lunch we walked arnd… in search for food… hahaz… cuz natha saw another place where there was BETTER CUP CORN… so i went there with him… n got ourselves cup corn… hmm it was not much difference leh… maybe cuz i eat cup corn too seldom to actually taste the difference… that reminds me of the cup corn in indonesia… omg their cup corn comes in lots of varieties… they have toppings like cheese, chocolate and other stuff… which i cant rmb… but all i know is that it doesnt make the cup corn taste so good… i still prefer the common CUP CORN =D… next stall was what i was looking for the whole thai trip… SAI MAI… ok la i dint know the name of it… it is like a thin piece of waffle(a bit like popiah skin)…and u place something like cotton candy into it… roll it up n eat it… the simple taste of sweetness stands out… n it tastes exceptionally good… I should have bought more… hahaz anyway we left n made our way to this mall in the city center… were we could see lots of electronics…  taxi was dumb enough to drop us on the opposite side of the road… so we had to cross it… being adventurous… we weren’t gona settle for the traffic light… were gona run across the road… haha this time with beng :D L0L the mall was pretty different… it did not have any restaurants or fast food outlets… just shops, shops n more shops… i rmb-ed we stopped at this shop which mainly sold swords… lots of them… but they were mainly for display… walked around n we saw many shops selling helicopters… =( so tempted to buy helicopters… but was in a dilemma… so ended up not buying… went to get some DVDs.. followed by this anime figurine shop… where natha started talkin with the shopowner… for quite some time… hahaz she was thinking of opening a shop in singapore and asked us for our opinion… we got some stuff from there and went back to the DVD shop to collect the DVDs we bought… n we decided it was time to go for dinner… but nabil wanted guava n natha said that there was a mall where he could get nice guava… so we had to cross the roads once again… this time traffic was much better… n on our way to the mall… i saw this moveable stall selling insects… O.O first time i have actually seen people selling insects… :S decided to pass on… heard there were fried cockroaches… luckly i dint see them… or i would have lost my appetite… anyway we bought a few sticks of satay… n went on to cross another road…. n we went into the mall… it was closing actually… but there were few food stalls that were still open… n worse of all… no guava stall =(… but there was this shop selling a lot of thai snacks… we got a few of those to try and moved on…. headed to natha’s uncle restaurant…. it was authentic thai food… the taxi driver was very impatient… hahaz… pretty scary…. but it got us to the restaurant  quickly… once again we had to cross the road… when we reached there… we were served lots of food an drinks… dint even have to order… there was papaya salad.. then came the bbq …. tom yum soup…. on top of that… we were given another kind of thai soup… it was spicy and had coconut milk in it… tasted quite nice :D… given a few other fried dishes which were yummy :D… n by then we were filled!…. headed towards a nearby mall to get guava… :D we travelled in this mini bus… it was open air…n it stops anywhere u want it to… just press the buzzer and it stops at a convinient place.. :D so cool… went to get guava and some snacks at carrefour… n we met up with natha’s 2nd brother… who brought us to a night market… near patpong… which is basically the red light district of bangkok… it was no different from any other night market… but when u reach the red light district… everything changes… u have people shoving menus into ure face… n trust me you wouldnt want to know what is written on those menus… but the night life is quite good… got music being played… as long as you dont go into the club…. you wouldnt see what your not suppose to see… we got a bit of stuff from that market… seemed much harder to bargain there… but we also couldnt be bothered… made our way back to the car… where natha tried to fight his brother… but of course natha lost like immediately… hahaz his brother is skilled in a few martial arts…. and we saw natha’s oldest brother waiting beside the car… got into the car… n by then  my eye were half close… worst car ride i had in thailand… ABSOLUTELY WORST!… the roads r so unpredictable in thailand… n since i was half asleep… when there was a bump my head wud hit against the hook… ouch!…. if that wasnt bad enough… natha’s brother suddenly stopped… n my head flew forward n banged the headrest… luckly it wasnt any hard plastic or i might have suffered from a concusion…! lol… ok exaggerated… but it really hurt… n not to mention… woke me up from my sleep =(… reached back to the guest house in one piece…
Day 6… woke up extremely late… natha’s mum was back from phuket… so she decided to bring us out… for lunch… went to a nearby restaurant… lunch was wonderful… i rmb-ed… the 1st dish was vege… it is different from any kkind of  vege that i have eaten… similar to kang kong…  but it is nice… n natha told us that he dint wane order it for us at other restaurants because he was scared that we might be disgusted with the vege’s origins… hahaz so sad… got to tast such nice veges only on the last day… the dishes then started coming out… natha’s mum was busy on the phone :S…. so she wasnt actually having lunch… she was basically chatting :S…. natha’s two brothers joined us… had pineapple rice… which was heavenly… the grains of rice tasted  so sweet… and the texture of the nuts in the rice made it better… it was only missing the pork floss… hahaz… but i wud say the prawns r the best… they were fresh n yummy =D…. after that natha’s mum dropped us at a mall nearby… where we decided to go watch a movie… the ticket costed only 120bhat… thats about 5 bucks… went to get popcorn… they had cheese flavour.. which terribly sucked… =( but the cinema seats were good… better the singapore’s… had more leg room… watched dejavu… i slept… hahaz… but i still cud understand the story… it was moving so slowly… n felt sick after watching it… went to get guava’s from  a nearby supermarket…took us a long time to find the supermarket…hahaz… n met natha’s mum… got our bags n took a cab to the airport… this taxi driver loves to speed…. he went up till 140kmh… but it was a highway… n it empty… so i guess it was safe… i think the new bkk airport has a horrible design… from the highway, the taxi had to drive the whole length of a runway to enter the terminal… the layout of the airport is similar to singapore’s changi airport… two parallel runways and the terminal in the middle of the two runaways…. it is hard to describe it … but basically it is a stupid design…
checked in… and we went for dinner… difficult choice to make… but we ended up at S&P… ate our food… n went 2 the immigration area…. had to get a 500baht piece of paper… stupid tax…. lol beng was so upset… anyway we were pretty late… by the time we entered the plane… it was already 98% full….. we all had to settle for single seats =(…. the plane was darn warm…. horrible flight… it only got better when we started to descend… but by then it was too late… haha luckly i managed to sleep on the flight… or else i wud have suffered more…. n finally it was back to singapore…. ok… not finally… =( a bit upset that the holiday passed so quickly… anyway was surprise to see aaron n mei fen at the airport… hahaz thanks for coming to see us…. okies… thats all for the thailand trip… hahaz =D

Thailand(Day3)

December 18th, 2006 by justinboon

It begins with a trip to the grand palace… but it looks more like a temple… hahaz we dropped off at the military museum… hmm or was it the military of defense… i cant rmb… anyway we tried to go in from the thai entrance… cuz admission was FOC… but sadly we all werent thai enough =( so we had to use the main entrance… we could get in the gate… but as soon as we realised that we had to pay 250baht to see a palace… we decided not too… anyway i have been there before… dont rmb seeing anything so nice there… haiz how evil of them to try squeeze out money from every single tourist they see!… anyway we decided to go shop… but before we shopped for clothes… we had to have lunch… n since the place we were going did not have good food… natha suggested we go to MBK(its a huge mall)… btw natha loves calling MBK… BMK… no idea why he does that… reached MBK… n as usual ure kinda spoilt for choice… its the same restaurants u see in all the other malls… there fast food too.. n a food court… we settled for MK… cuz natha recommended it… ooh the bacon was yummy =D… after lunch we walked around for a little while… the others bought lamps… i got myself a RC helicopter… not those that run in the thousands… one of the cheaper versions… haiz BAD MISTAKE BUYING IT!…. had to carry it where ever i went from now on… n since we took taxi… it made it worse when we had to squeeze with a helicopter inside… =( ar well
we reached the clothes paradise… umm started walking again… bought a bit of stuff… the rest were pretty angry that the shirts were free size(they come only in one size) which was sadly too small for them… joel was busy searching for his all important gift… anyway the place looks like it caters to girls… its like 80% of the shops are selling women’s clothes… so we kinda wasted our energy walking… we then walked to a nearby mall to have dinner… at A&W ooh… finally after such a long time… i had 2 curly fries n a hotdog… yummy =D… shared a waffle with beng… gona be a long long time till my next A&W meal =(

anyway by then i wasnt feeling well…

made our way to siam paragon… its like the paragon in singapore… high class… we dint intend to go there to shop… obviously… we went there cuz natha promised to show us some high end cars… n yes we werent gona buy them… just take pictures of the them… i had to go to the toilet by then… >.<….  went out… to cross the road to get dunkin donuts… :D on when i went out… they had an open air concert… some orchestra playing… was about to leave when they started playing 1812 overture… wasn’t very good… =S…. n nabil was angry cuz there were people smoking… so we left after that… n went 2 get dunkin donuts! :D… after which we went to the noodle shop… for supper… munch munch munch…. n we left soon after… walked back to MBK… n we took a taxi…

this is where it gets hilarious/ridiculous… natha dint trust the taxi driver… as the taxi driver could not give natha the correct answer for the cost of the tolls… so natha was supicious… n he started speaking in chinese to us… to tell us how he felt… lol never seen liat beng this funny… he said this to natha in chinese ," tell us when you think he(taxi driver) is driving us the wrong way, we will all gang up against him" really sounded like a true beng… hahaz 1st n last time i shall see him this outrageous… lol… it got till the point the taxi driver was suspicious of us… when natha asked him questions, he ignored natha… well i mean that is to be expected when there are 4 people speaking something he doesnt understand… so i guess he must have been worried that we wud bring him to some dark corner n rob him… hahaz…. anyway at that point natha was still suspicious of the driver so when the driver passed a place, natha called phorn to ask her if we need to pass this place to get to her house…. but he couldnt say it in thai… so he spoke in english… and asked phorn to directly translate it into thai… well phorn dint know either… she doesnt stay there…. its her aunts house… hahaz…. but once natha saw the air force base… he calmed down… haha cuz phorn’s uncle works in the air force… so the house was nearby…lol… everyone calmed down after that… hahaz certainly hilarious… reached phorns house… charged the helicopter for a while… washed up n BED TIME… hahaz =D

Day 4
Woke up… natha’s hair was cool… all standing up… in a wavy motion… cant really describe it in words… u shud see the picture on my friendster account soon… anyway after that we went down… took our shower…. thats when we decided to play with the helicopter… while waiting for phorn’s aunt to fetch us to the theme park…
brought it out of the house… joel tried it once… its pathetic… hard to control… so joel crashed it into the electrical wires before it fell straight onto the road side… hahaz i was next… dint dare to just push the trottle to the max… so i slowly pushed it… till it took off… n landed it soon after realising… this helicopter cant fly forward!! arrrgh wth… i bought a helicopter that cannot fly forward!!… anyway the lift it creats is pretty huge… just think of it as ure household fan… at max speed… maybe a little stronger than that…. natha was next… n i dont rmb what exactly happened… but he brought it high… about 3 storeys high… n i think the light breeze slowly pushed the helicopter to the back of the house… started to panic by then… so he slowly landed it… INTO THE MARSHES… we think… haha cuz we did not see where it exactly landed… the house was blocking our view =( anyway the bottom line is that… the helicopter is gone =(… ar well… bye bye helicopter…
wasnt very devasted by the lost of my helicopter… after all there is nothing much i could have expect from such a cheap helicopter which only could fly up n down -.-
but losing it that fast was a bit unexpected too… hahaz afterall i had to carry the helicopter for quite some time the previous day… natha helped me out too :D…
anyway whats gone is gone n will not come back again…unless i buy a new one =D hahaz… anyway phorn’s aunt came n off we were to DREAM WORLD… reached there in about 20mins… huge theme park… were dropped of at the entrance… n it looked so much better then escape theme park… =)…. went to get our tickets… n LUCKLY WE HAD PHORN N NATHA!…they had different prices for thais… they had to pay 350 while we had to pay 450… of course they werent so stupid to write 350 in english… they wrote it in thai… so only phorn & natha wud understand… wah lau… being a thai citizen has its benefits sia… too bad they couldnt cheat us… =D anyway 350 baht is about 15SGD… guess where we went first…. im sure u wudnt have guessed it… SPORTS SHOP selling branded goods at half price… lol… were all like attracted to see what kinda shop can sell branded goods at 50%… but it was genuine… quite surprising… really no idea how they sell stuff at 50%…. anyway we moved into the theme park… the hedges are extremely well pruned… the gardens were beautiful… n the fountains r beautiful… anyway 1st ride… MINI COASTER… lol no queue at all… it looked so kiddy… dint expect it to be pretty exciting… hahaz they had a drop which was small enough to give u that weightless sensation… but not for a long time… so it was pretty nice… hahaz next we went to the giant house… yes the name says it all… next… the roller coaster… which was TAME… omg it was even worse then the mini coaster… there are practically no drops… it just goes in circles… but the good thing is that we could go on it twice in a row… as there was no queue… hahaz next… we went…. oh yar we wanted to go for some water ride called grand canyon… but sadly it was under maintenance… damnit =( hahaz… since go kart was there, we decided to go for it… n once again they tried cheatin foreigners… thais pay less to go kart then foreigners… how dumb… anyway go karting wasnt very exciting… it was just going in a loop… few turns here n there… lol even escape’s go kart is better… though im sure guo ping wud scold me n joel wud kill me…anyway after that we went for… the ride that goes in vertical circles… eulz horrible… its like the mini version that singapore has… what makes it horrible is the number of times it spins u… n it hurts! damnit… how i wish it was much shorter… =( anyway the next ride is the WORSE RIDE OF ALL… its this spinning disc… at a 45 degree angle to the horizontal n it spins too… omg as usual it hurts when it spins as the belt restrains u from moving too much but this time it also makes u giddy… cuz the ride is faster… omg i felt sick… but i wasnt the worse one… natha was PALE!… very freaky… our tour guide look as though he was gona faint… but he put on a brave front n went for the wet ride!… that ride is guaranteed to get u wet… if not drenched… its a short ride… just goes up a slope makes a turn n drops back down… but the splash it creates is HUGE… brave liat beng natha phorn n joel were sitting in front… cuz they thought that we were all gona get wet no matter were we sat… but sadly… they were wrong… haha they got DRENCHED… while me n nabil were a little wet… by then natha seemed ok… hahaz those 4 heroes were so excited that they decided to stand at the bridge… where the splash created by the boat would directly pass through… lol… i dint wane get wet so nabil n i stood out…lol… i guess it wud have been nice standing there to see a huge wall of water heading towards u… but my shorts were dry n i preferred them that way.. =D hahaz…anyway we went for lunch afterwards n KFC… i was starving… so i went to order 1st… natha went to toilet( i thought he was sick) n the rest went for the roller coaster ride to ‘dry’ themselves… anyway nabil found out that natha was trying to squeeze water out of his shirt… hahaz…. anyway after lunch we went for this… real life action play… was quite entertaining i suppose… lots of stunts… … oh yar what was i thinking i missed out haunted house, pirates ship, bumper car n an indoor roller coaster… ok nvm haunted house 1st… natha n phorn were so scared that they left us to go through the haunted house… kinda freaked four of us… cuz even the thais were scared of the house… but it was ok i suppose… the one in escape was worse… MUCH WORSE actually… especially when i had a ‘girl’ pulling onto my shirt…. hahaz  but pirate ship was FANTASTIC!! NO QUEUE as usual… n it goes extremely high… wow… exhilarating!… n scary too… lol joel has a ‘nice’ pic of phorn screaming… oh yar joel is this mad photographer that takes pictures DURING THE RIDE… okies after that…. yar we took a few more photos here n there… n went 2 the giants house… to cool down from the hot weather… n went out…. tried to get a taxi… where they again tried to charge us more for extra passengers… it was like a gang outside the theme park waiting for customers… haiz evil peeps… so we decided to go to the main road n hail one… went to the nearby mall where we had donuts… from MISTER DONUT… n after which we had dinner… at black canyon cafe… where i a taste of FUSION food… guess what it was CALLED… UDON IN TOM YUM SOUP… to show me the tom yum was authentic, they had LOTS OF LEMONGRASS in it… omg before i could even eat, i had to sieve through the whole bowl of noodles to get out a full plate of lemongrass… n the so called UDON… was actually rice noodles… how nice of them to call it FUSION FOOD… i guess tom yum flavoured instant noodles can be called FUSION FOOD too!… anyway the soup was great… i mean what could i expect from a soup which contains a plate full of lemon grass… anyway after that we took a taxi back to nathas house… his 2nd brother then brought us to a night bazaar where there was this huge ferris wheel.. we met his oldest brother there… i think that place beats the chachuchat weekend market… its cleaner… with floored tiles… the products are similar… there is not much crowd… there is a live concert at an open air hawker center n best of it… it is not HOT!… i chose to sit down with nathas brother n grab something to eat… i wasnt interested in walking about anymore… hahaz… it was good night life they had there… dint take pictures of the place =(… anyway the concert was… umm ok la… just imagine a ronan keating’s ‘when you say nothing at all’ being sung by a female with a heavy thai accent… i was wondering if she was singing the thai version of ‘when you say nothing at all’ … well the 2nd singer wasnt too bad… singing that tokyo drift song… the one phorn likes to sing… i guess she sounded a bit like japanese… well at least i could hear the lyrics… hahaz after which it was all thai songs being sung… so i just enjoyed the atmosphere… hahaz at abt 12mid-night we left… n natha’s oldest brother decided that we should go on a tour of the darker side of night life… all we had to do was drive around a park nearby… could see girls along the pavements…. u can infer the rest… his oldest brother got off n took cab somewhere… while his 2nd brother drove us home… to take our clothes… waited for us… to come back… n drove us to natha’s house to take our shower…waited for us again…. n then he drove us back… at about 2.30am… oh yes his brother seems nocturnal… actually not… his brother doesnt seem tired at all… he can work in the day AND AT NIGHT… n even drive us at such odd timings… really nice of him =)… anyway we got back… n i think the rest went to watch my sassy girl… or some movie… but i felt asleep… hahaz =D ok day 5 shall have to wait… i gtg sleep!

Thailand (Day 2)

December 17th, 2006 by justinboon

Day 2 started off a bit late… with Liat Beng’s ring tone irritating all of us… followed by liatbeng drawing the curtains…ahhh sunlight =(

We were late for our appointment with phorn’s dad at 10pm in a mall… we reached there at 11 i think… natha’s brother fetched us there (his extremely nice…) walked one big round to get into the shopping center as we were dropped at the carpark… met ratchaphorn’s parents and we made our way to the car…poor nabil dint have a seat… and therefore he had to sit between two seats… with a panda for a little bit of support… nevertheless it must have been an uncomfortable 2h+ journey for him… to PATTAYA
reached pattaya… where natha told me that we could go HORSE RIDING… on the beach… oooh i was lookin forward to that… one year since i have been on a horse…. but before making our way to the beach, we needed to have lunch… i wasnt really starving but still some food wouldnt kill :D…. went to this place which is famous for its papaya salad … wonder how they knew it was famous for papaya salad… the restaurant was FILLED…. and there was a sculpture of a motar and pestle outside to tell the whole world its signature dish…. phorns parents did the ordering…. and we helped clear up the table… that is what happens when the restaurant is too popular… they dont have enough cleaners… but their food was great…. started off which deep fried chicken wings… wow so crispy and delicious :D
cant remember what was next but we had… papaya salad with raw crabs… papaya salad with peanuts… mussles in garlic(which nabil loves)…. tom yum soup… cant rmb what else… but what i can rmb was that were totally full!!!… haiz couldnt go into the beach =( but that was ok… it was like 2-3 pm in the afternoon…i did not intend to bake myself under the sun… :D took a drive to the beach… it was high tide… =( that meant no horse riding… anyway i was still too full to ride a horse… so it dint disappoint me… pattaya is so different from ecp… its sand is a bit more course… and the whole beach is filled with shades and beach chairs… went to a table and sat around it… :D…. the beach is filled with two main activites… jet skiing and banana boating….after walking up and down the beach to find the best price for banana boating, we decided to stick with the first person we saw… lol actually joel liat beng nabil and me were just following natha n phorn… we had to act like thais… which mean we couldnt speak.. hahaz…. anyway by the time we walked back, we were ready for it!…. haha for those of you who dont know what happens during banana boating, let me give u a brief description….5 people get onto this float that is in the shape of a banana…. the float is dragged by a boat and the objective of the boat rider is to make sudden turns and make the float capsize… well since it was my 1st time sitting the banana boat, i had no idea how bad it is to capsize… so the 1st time it happened, some one pushed me down to float!… lucky were all wearing life vest so we floated in the end… but it was freaky being pushed down into the water… we took turns sitting at the front of the float…. here are some highlights of the 30min ride….
1. Liat Beng fell off the banana boat ALONE… since he was the last, no one realised… so when the captain of the boat asked if everything was ok  natha said YES!
2. After being in the front for such a long time….. i decided that i should not let go of my position without a struggle… therefore when i fell, i grabbed onto the handle and was dragged on the water….(according to liat beng)

After banana boating, we wanted jet skiing! phorns dad helped us with the negotiations and soon we had two jet skis :D
Nothing much to say about jet skis else then they really make u scared…. hahaz
and natha TRYING to be cool… made a few tight turns which caused  nabil n him to fall off the jet ski….

By then it was dusk… took our shower and went for dinner…. with joel desperately trying to take pictures….

dinner was at this seafood place…. LOTS OF FOOD…. we even had like one medium sized crab to ourself…. wah after eating… i felt so full…. so on the way back to bangkok…. we all slept in the car… else then joel… he kept leaning forward…. not sure y… :S

ok im tired…. day 3 wud have to wait… bb :D

Back from Thailand (Night 1)

December 15th, 2006 by justinboon

Yeap im back from thailand… n i miss it =( well not enough to die for it but still… it was an experience worth treasuring for a life time =D… like all other holidays hahaz

what makes it more important is that homework is waiting… so is council stuff… and of course the re-opening of school year…. nooooooooooo
for once am i sad that school is starting =(

Anyway I shall start with day 1 of bangkok… ok more like NIGHT 1 of bangkok
touch down in Suvarnabhumi Airport (easier pronounced as so wonderful airport)
Dont be mistaken by the name… it is not so wonderful.. reminds me of osaka’s kansai international airport with its dual storey layout but it fails in interior design… mostly bare concrete… worse still, at the center of the concourse, you can suddenly see this well lit up place… selling cosmetics… makes the airport look more like a stadium… so ugly -.-’

Being slow n lazy, we went to the toilets to check out how good the airport is… not too bad i suppose… but it just made us last in queue for immigration… went to collect our baggage… which was waiting for us at the carrousel… natha went 2 try the phone…. which wasnt working for some reason… so we went out… phorn then met her relatives… who then took her home… n left us with natha… our tour guide… hahaz

went for dinner at the food court… n i ate that pork noodle soup… it was nice… i have no idea what it is called in thai but it is the one where u can smell from quite a distance… very distinctive smell i would say… oh it comes with crispy pork skin… so u can dip that into the soup… =) it goes well together… like eating fried crackers with a delicious broth =) yummy

after that we decided to get a taxi… but after talking to the operators for quite some time, natha decided that they were trying to cheat us!… evil taxi people… so following nathas advice, we took bus… to the bus terminal… not bad la… dint have to walk much… or wait very long either… very soon, we were on our way to the city … hahaz i remembered the thai people laughin at natha for asking some weird question… cant rmb but it really cracked them up… the guy sitting beside natha was friendly… so natha being so amicable asked him information about the route to his house… got down the bus and the nice guy hailed a cab for us… (nice guy started smoking though…) n we were off to natha’s house… crossed a bridge…(though i dont have any vague memory of passing a bridge… but we had to pass one so ill assume i was day dreaming when we passed one….) and soon after… it was the ENTRANCE to nathas house… very weird… it is right beside a open warehouse… so you could see… tiles and beside the warehouse…. a narrow path…(enough for one car to pass through) that leads to a teal metal gate… a few honks n suddenly the gates slide open… natha has people actually looking after the gates 24/7… drove pass the garage… filled with about 3-4 cars… n there it was… natha’s house MANSION… to call it big would be an understatement hmm just think of it taking the area of half a soccer field… shud be around there… n thats just the house… not to mention the beatifully manicured gardens and the driveway that shud be converted to a go-kart track…. hahaz… went into his house… n saw his dad… his mum was away on a business trip… took a truck to his guest house… about 10min drive away… got some tidbits on the way… at a place called jet jiffy… some convenience shop at a patrol station… his guest house is pretty big too… about the size of a semi-detached house in singapore i suppose…  a two storey floor to roof glass cylinder as the living roof catches attention immediately… impressive… ok no use mentioning the rest… the norm… with the exception of water pressure running lower by the second…

By the next day there was no water left… n we had to go to the nearby swimming pool to take our shower… nathas driver drove us there… hmm after that we went to chatuchak market… since it was so famous… it was packed!… went for lunch first… before we decided shopping… n the restaurant had… some unusual pictures… ask joel if you want to see them… oh yeah natha bought thai squid for us to try… from a roadside stall… hahaz was quite nice… it is dipped in some sauce… i think it is fish sauce… most likely diluted… and chilli added to it for that spicy twist… after lunch we started walking in the market… trying to find ratchaphorn (phorn for short) and her sister… we walked one full round just to find her… cuz of miscommunication… by then i was half sian le… after a full lunch in an air conditioned restaurant, i had to walk around under the afternoon sun =(  finally saw phorn and her sister… at the mrt station… =) walk…walk…walk…. stopped asked for a price and buy things… thats what my friends did… all i did was walk walk walk… stone n walk some more… hahaz wasnt interested in anything actually… been there before sometime back… moreover i was perspiring by then… felt so uncomfortable… hahaz ar well walked till 5 i think… arnd there oh yes we were walking back to the station on the road… n while chatting we suddenly realised that the whole market kinda froze… lol dint realise the anthem was playing… hmm ok that means we walked till 6+… anyway it was kinda weird feeling… but cool in some sense too… seeing everything stop just for a song… wow.. wonder when that would happen in singapore… made our way to the mrt station… luckly it was underground and best of all… well air conditioned… even though it was pretty crowded… queued up for the ticketing machine… n our two thai tour guides dint know that notes could be accepted by the machine… so they fratically searched for a place to change the notes into coins… luckly phorn saw the note slot… just before natha n nabil were about to take the escalator up… =D btw their MRT looks exactly like singapore’s one… though it is much newer… even the clock is the same… hahaz
we bought the wrong tickets and had to depart the mrt at an earlier stop… so natha decided we shud take bus… lol at one point he was considering motorcycles… lol but with phorn around, he gave up that idea soon… anyway we had to cross the road… i have no idea how natha does his counting… poor joel n beng dint cross with us as a result… hahaz oh yar were jay-walking… pretty exciting… hahaz took the bus to a mall… where we had to cross the road once again… this time joel wanted to jay-walk…  sadly there was a barrier at the divider… therefore we took the bridge…. walked a fair bit to the mall… where natha brought us to this shabu shabu place to it… called shabu shi…=) ran by oishi… a popular japanese food brand in thailand…had to wait for quite some time… due to its popularity… but certainly worth the wait… given 1h10mins to eat… food was served via a conveyor belt system… and it was a buffet… take as much as you want… like seoul garden… though way better… service was good as we were sitting right beside the kitchen… and ratchaphorn’s sister is damn good at asking for food… hahaz she kinda flirted with the person who was in charge of placing the sushi on the conveyor belt… therefore we had loads of sushi to eat… hahaz =) n all that for 8SGD…not bad =) wonderful meal… hahaz we were like mad people trying to get our moneys worth… and at the last 10mins phorn’s sister realised we could order a few dishes… therefore she did her ultimate whinning to the waiter to get food for us… haha it was damn funny… =D certainly enjoyed it… sadly nabil n beng had a stomache… so they rushed to the toilets after that…. while natha joel n me went 2 a cd stall n got sassy girl… n surprise surprise… we met phorns family… this time with her parents… wah her father is very scary… he extended his left hand to shake n me being so slow… extended my right hand… so he just tapped me on my right hand as a greeting… hahahz very weird…  natha talked to phorn’s parents about the next days plan to go to pattaya… n we left and made our way to the night market where beng n nabil bought some stuff… n finally we took a cab back after a tiring day… =D
ahh DAY 1 over…

Highlight of the day: eating shabu shi (with ratchaphorn’s sister to entertain all of us–please no dirty thoughts!)

itinery… for me to recall all the places we have been to
day 2:pattaya
day 3: temple mbk(helicopter) clothes center siam paragon
day 4:theme park… night bazaar
day 5: cant rmb…electronics natha’s aunt restaurant pat pong
day 6: lunch n movie… n horrible flight back

Misunderstood

Sometimes it really sucks being in JC… you meet people for barely two years and soon you have to leave them…

Then again you have people who have known your name for 1 year… rarely talk to you and they know you inside out… OR SO THEY THINK…

What happened today was a person trying to show how smart he is by ‘reading’ me (or actually how stupid he is). Of course he was so full of himself that he thought he knew me better then i knew myself!
Refused to admit his mistake and even questioned my honesty!

BTW, he thought he knew me just because of my results… like if i get X amount of As, it means that in my childhood I have not done XXXXX and all I have done is stay at home n read newspapers…. my seconday school life revolves around books and the only reason I use a computer is to find information on the latest physics texts avaliable and in my JC life all I do is read a thick stack of notes daily…

ironically he dint do too badly for his exams… so why dint these few assumptions apply to him?
While he can play everything he likes in this world, people who get X amount of As cannot enjoy life…

Dont get me wrong im not angry at him… Im just extremely disappointed about how a FRIEND CAN ACTUALLY MAKE RETARDED ASSUMPTIONS and NOT ADMIT HIS MISTAKE

Anyway I did not blow up…  i was on the verge of doing so… and therefore im extremely happy i managed to CONTROL my anger… no wonder people always keep silent… it really does help…

Get Connected-SLC part 2??

Hmm i guess too much negetive, should say more positive things

Umm… First day was… ok la principal came, and her questions were pretty vague, resulting in very poor response. Stephan Chow was much nicer, more engaging…maybe cuz he was younger… ended off the day with a debrief where i forgot Mrs Loke’s name…. for a brief moment…. dont know why either… but it was an extremely weird feeling… had to recall what i say during morning announcements… that familiar phrase….=) anyway what was cool about that nice was basically… nothing la… all i had for dinner was a chicken drumstick… free one of course…. kindly sponsored by ‘weakest link’  wanted to have more food…. but was too tired to go order delivery… so i just went 2 sleep… poor kenneth had stomache… =S

Day 2 was much better… sitting in a car… moving pass the countryside… at least it was better then the bus…. somehow before we reached the boat, it suddenly stopped raining… =) nice weather by then… lunch was… not bad… hahaz at least it looked edible… boat set off…. nets opened… n… i think keng mun started jumping… hahaz… its kinda freaky when u jump off the 2nd deck… you keep on asking everyone to hurry but when it comes to ure turn, ure hesistant… but no one could be yan ling, i think… she was extremely hesistant… i think we spent a good 20mins trying to get her 2 jump…. in the end she went 2 the 1st deck…. i guess nothing wrong… not much difference…. just that you get to have a bit more hang time when u jump from the 2nd deck… kayak-ed with justin n ivan to the resort…. oh damn we were sucky… for some reason our kayak kept steering right….  had to get tammy to guide us… hahaz… i wanted to just hold onto another kayak… but by then, everyone was ahead of us… =( hahaz… reached the resort… n had to change to dry clothes… obstacle course was fun… hahaz shahidah was always sabo-ed to be the 1st 2 go as she was leader =) hahaz… n we then climbed the coconut tree… too bad the coconuts were about 1m higher up… so none of us could get any… haahz >.< damnit…. day ended…. with dinner… and the odd groups making their way back to campsite… i heard miss thangam’s boat capsized… n zhi chuan lost his specs to the sea :S… lucky his eyesight wasnt too bad… dinner was…. ok…. cold satay wasnt exactly the nicest thing… but i guess it was better then nothing… the started the campfire… which was…. kinda like an open air oven… so basically there was nothing much to it… i thought it would be more… exciting… like everyone sits around the fire…. but our campfire was basically…yar as i said an open air oven… me n justin could not decide if we wanted 2 go for that firefly thing…. but after the guide said the water level was ankle deep and there were 30 people going, we decided to go…. hahaz it was quite nice actually…. dint have to walk very far…. not the 1hour 30minutes most people told me… it was a mere 5min walk before we ’saw’ fireflies… though i couldnt recognise any… poor eyesight…. i couldnt differentiate firefiles from stars…. so when people kept saying their blinking, i was wondering, are those stars? or fireflies??? anyway we walked a bit further… on to this beach, that was kinda muddy… it had glow worms… so darn kewl…. haha dint know it existed… though i dint managed to catch any, i most probably killed a lot…. >.< but it was nice i guess… having stars filling the skies above n the beach filled with glow worms… reached  another angsana tree… where this time the guides actually caught fireflies…. i was wondering how they actually did that…. but it was nice… i could finally see what a firefly looked like…. hahaz =D…. on our way back…. we stopped by the tree where we 1st saw the fireflies and the guides once again caught a few more fireflies…. this time it was more hilarious… since i could see them actually climb the trees… its darn cool… its like climbing club minus the ropes n the lights… dont know how they do that… but they managed to climb at least 3meters up a tree… in total darkness… hahaz n it was damn hilarious when they said… OH SHIT….. hahaz had that familiar tone…. even though they said it in their own language…. went back to camp… and our open air oven was dying out…. so sad… hahaz… went 2 clean our feet… and went by the camp fire, in hopes of drying our sandles…. dont know why i did that when i knew were gona wet it the next day… ended up talking about uncles n aunties with benjamin n justin… took me so long to figure out who uncle1 n aunty1 was… erick kindly helped us clean our tent, as it was wet…. but in the end he went to the open air platform to sleep…. with lots of other people… i went to sleep soon after that…. hahaz woke up… hearing chris telling jensen that he sleep-talks…. dint realised it actually happen…. haha i dint hear anything…. =S chris is damn hilarious sometimes… but half the time their talkin in chinese… what to do, their malaysians…. favourite language… chinese… but chris can speak chinese damn fast… as in….FAST FAST =D… if i could speak at that pace, i would probably not be taking chinese B…. not having to see chinese for the next year =) ok i shall forget about that.. for now :D hahaz…. we did that rafting thing… so dumb.. >.< we had justin a former scout trying to teach us how to tie the barrels to the platform… n u have like 6 of us trying to follow… in the end we managed to tie it…. n started pushing them out to sea…. quite stupid…. 2 people sit n the rest push… damn tiring… trying to run in the water…. but erick wasnt bad leh…. me n justin started lagging behind…. n erick ended up pushing the raft himself… :D thanks erick!!
came back…. and a few people started climbing the coconut tree…. with maryam telling them to get a coconut for her… over 5 people tried and no one could get it…. even maryam herself… in the end erick just told the guide to help us get coconuts… since he was indonesian after all…. the guy got us 3 coconuts… n yes he climbs the tree darn fast…. perhaps it wasnt so entertaining as the guides climbing the mangrove trees with no harness in total darknes…(still find that fasinating) but still he got us 3 coconuts…. n took a parang to help us open it up… =) went for flying fox… i was 3rd last 2 go…. kinda freaky when u get up there… haha but in the end u just do it…. n im so surprised even yan ling did it… after what happened on the 1st day…. i guess cuz this time the guides were," you dont jump i push" hahaz… so everyone choose the jumping option… some even went the 2nd time… after lunch we went into the car….wah lau the car sucked this time… after the ride my whole back was wet!…. so darn hot… =/ hahaz reached the mall… which was a large departmental store with a supermarket…. not what i expected…. hahaz ar well it was a fun trip… n erick suddenly reminded me it was his birthday… lol…though he dint want me to say it out….
Went back to the ferry terminal, where me n justin started to freak out when we couldnt find our bags… dint know kenneth janice… n someone else was holding on to ours bags…. n they went a head… :S so nice of them…. hahaz =D boarded the ferry… headed back to singapore…. played some piggy game with a group of girls… with vanessa being the SUPREME PIG….=D hahaz but i also ended up being one after saying her name =( hahaz went outside… it was extremely nice… windy… and stary night… kinda nice atmosphere…. if not for the few chimneys… but that wasnt too bad i suppose =) somehow chris knew it was erick’s birthday…. n this time we sang him a birthday song… though erick was kinda emotionless… then went 2 talk 2 jensen…. i think he sounds like a thai…. KI boy… me n chris had a fun time telling jensen the difference between KI students n NON-KI students… KI students would bother to go think what other normal people wouldnt even care about… lihong being one of them… hahaz… i guess its part of being a critical thinker and issac newton in the making…. hahaz…. lets see what they will find out in time to come…. =) ferry reached singapore….n took bus back… n finally HOME… u tend to miss home after u have been to a place with no proper toilets… hahahaz :D okies time for me to go out…. damn late for dinner… but this is like the 3rd time im eating swensens in a week… *bored* okies till next time… which should be next week… when i come back from GIC business orientation…. cya people =) n enjoy your holidays…

Cheated…

October 28th, 2006 by justinboon

I signed up for a CSI competition… long time ago and it happened today… haiz what a waste of one full day…

13 groups of 6 individuals who loved CSI went to the police complext at 8.15 in the morning… mind you its a saturday… holidays started 2 days ago n i have to wake up at 7 just to get there… even with my father sending me… luckly i did not have to wake up earlier…

Started off with a brief intro and a lecture… boy was the lecture ultra lame… he went through the 6 steps of processing a crime scene… for all those out there who want to find out what these six steps are, i shall summarise it for it… simply put just collect everything n stuff them in the proper bags la… but he took half an hour to tell us that…

oh yar we were also introduced to our ‘facilitator’ who’s name was mr lum… if i dint get it wrong…

We then went for tea… and our facilitator after a long time… found us… and the 1st thing he said was: "Ni men ke yi jiang hua yu?" WADDA HELL… stupid police… who told them to give us this chinese speaking person… but we had denis n zoe as translators… so i thought not to bad… hahaz after saying that sentence… he walked off… n we couldnt be bothered so we decided to go to the other side n have a sit… on the floor… While looking at other teams chatting with their facilitators, ours was no where to be found… not that we actually bothered searching for him… who wants to chat with a person who insists on using chinese when half the group cant understand chinese -.-’ retards

After the tea break, we went back into the audi for a briefing… and the ‘game master’ decided to talk and waste time… After all that had happened i asked what we were suppose to do and what was the objective… they then said:" the person who can get the most accurate story is the winner"
We were given the scenario… some robberies… n a chinese man caught… n we had to search his hotel room for evidence… So EXCITING RIGHT?

So we went to sembawang to a some NS-men hotel thingy… n started wasting 1.5hours searching for evidence that would link the accused to the crime scene. I dont know if this is absurd or what but the accused hides. One above an air condtion unit, one in the water cinster. A bangle underneath a water kettle. A ring inside a hanger and one on a shower curtain hook. Man this robber is surely very paranoid. But worst of all, in the toilet roll he kept his SIM CARD.  Of course my team had no idea  that we had to find such stuff la… We  were like headless people  running around hoping to get some directions. Of course la what could our great facilitator do then just sit n look at us… "HELPING" us count down time and telling us how fast his team could do it… ok… fine if you all can do it in 30mins then good for you… but i dont really care… unless you want to give me clues/answers, just keep your mouth shut… And the photographer came in.. of course he also had to REMIND us of the time we had left… and best still our facilitator told him to take a shot in such a way that he could see how messy our evidence was… like WTH! if you dont want to help us then fine la but to pull us down is just wrong la… retarded… all thanks/no thanks to the person who gave us this IDIOT… bloody retard, while other facilitators help their own team we have one that is trying to kill us…. as fast as possible…

When we went back, there was this questionaire waiting for us to fill up….
2. Was the competition fun and challenging?
I wrote somewhat fun and challenging… (had to be nice my name was on the cover)…
Why? Nice treasure hunt, without the clues…. but where is the CSI part?

4. How fair was the judging?
Quite fair with a few errors…
Reason: How am i suppose to know if it is fair?? all i have seen is what my team presented.

of course they needed to have this question
Would you recommend it to your juniors?
Yes
Reason: The food wasnt bad… had nice spring rolls… but what a waste i just tightened my braces… or else i would have just enjoy my lunch =(

Simply said… it was a waste of my day…. doing a 1.5h treasure hunt without any clues… having a facilitator who should be renamed as the devils advocate… and feeling sorely disappointed for not having to do any CSI STUFF…

oh yar… just incase your wondering why the police force decided to have it, it was basically to promote the police force…. and TALENT SPOTTING….
